The Ordinary – worth the hype?

Hello lovelies,

This post is probably the most I’ve been excited about. The brand has been around social media a lot and it’s hard to not notice that there is a lot of “hype” around it. Of course, I couldn’t pass by and not try it so here we’re.

The Ordinary

Let’s start with the quick introduction. So, The Ordinary is part of the DECIEM brand which is a bigger name covering a few other brands. The products are free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone. ( as claimed on the website). They’re targeting specific areas and solve or try to solve specific skin issues by making formulas very simple and concentrated on few main ingredients. All the products are very affordable and for every pocket!

I have to say, I’m usually quite careful when it comes to products I’m using on my face. It took me a while to go through all the ingredients and understand what they’re actually doing to the skin. Most of them contain clinical formulations which may not go with some other products I’m using (what is also indicated on their website) or react with each other causing irritation. I think its always worth to remember it!

Hyaluronic acid 2% +B5

I went for their “Hydrators” range and I’ve ordered 3 products: Natural Moisturizing Factors +HA, Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 and 100%Plant- Derived Squalane.

Natural Moisturizing Factors +HA

Natural Moisturizing Factors +HA is a face cream which is mainly focused on water retention within the skin. I use it mostly in the morning before I put my make-up on. It does absorb very quickly and doesn’t leave the skin greasy, which is a bonus. Perfect for travelling.  I would say it’s a multipurpose product!

Price: GBP 4.90 (100 ml)

Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 – this one is a serum which I love and it’s my favourite so far from this range.  I use it just after cleansing, mostly at night time. It’s super light and gets20180609_095311_00011346562368.png absorbed immediately. The face does really feel soft and hydrated. I’ve been using it for over a month and I feel like my skin has improved. It does contain Vitamin B5 which also enhances surface hydration- extra points here! Thumbs up!

Price: GBP 5.90 (30 ml)

100% Plant – Derived Squalane – This product has an oily texture and I use it only in the evening routine. What I realized is that when I put it on in the evening, my skin is perfectly moisturised in the morning. That’s caused by Squalane which is a hydrocarbon found naturally in the skin and enhanced by the product itself.  It definitely prevents the skin from losing the moisture.  Great product again!

Price: GBP 5.50 (30 ml)

100% Plant-Derived Squalane( 30ml )

My personal verdict is: AWESOME! I couldn’t find anything faulty about this products. They actually do the job! The skin feels good and moisture for hours, they’re a great base for makeup and as part of the evening routine. They’re super affordable and accessible and fit for travel bag! I can wait to try more products!

Enjoy!
